I feel more confident in rubber or plastic pants over my diaper when I'm riding in a friends car or sitting in a public place where I could possibly leak. I would hate to leak on a friends car seat. A long time ago I was out with my wife while she was getting her hair done at her regular beauty salon. My diaper was quite wet but not leaking. I wasn't wearing any rubber pants. I discovered that diapers could hold more when standing but when I sat down they leaked. I sat in one of the seats at the salon and my wetness was squished out of them making a mess. My wife was livid and scolded me out loud in front of everyone. She knows all the girls that work there and asked for paper towells and cleaning disinfectant so I could clean up my mess. Luckily the chair was vinyl and not cloth. Then she made me stuff the soaked paper towells into my diaper saying the girls dont want my urine smell in their trash. Then she made me walk accross the mall to a CVS to get some bed protector incontinence sheets and I had to put one on the seat back at the salon before sitting.I had to stay like that while she got her hair done. Now when we go out I'm always in rubber pants and must carry one of those protector pads to put down where ever I it.
