No "proper" it will all be down to what works for all involved. First and foremost you need to talk to him not us.

And my advice is to talk to her husband not us. It actually is great advice because every couple that makes this sort of lifestyle work only do so because they have great communication about it.

absolutely. Tricking your partner into something they don’t agree with is very likely to have negative and possibly irreparable consequence.
