Darth Vader might have been really badass, but it's still a dick move to unilaterally change the deal.
Going raw in this situation is a bigger risk than I'd be game for, but if that's what you're into I'm not going say you're wrong. Even a mutual decision in the moment (risky, perhaps dumb, but at least agreed on) I wouldn't see as bad. However, one person unilaterally changing the deal like this, without even letting the others know, and then trying to bullshit his way out of it... totally not cool
The evening was ruined, the jackass put everyone at risk without their consent.
